Following a standstill in contract extension talks, Buddy Hield and the Indiana Pacers are now exploring potential trade options with other teams, according to league sources.
Hield is open to being traded elsewhere, but no imminent deal is in place, and there are currently no substantive discussions with other teams. The Pacers offered Hield an extension recently, but it apparently didn’t meet his expectations.
Hield, in the last year of his contract at $19.2 million for the 2023-24 season, is expected to draw interest from multiple teams as NBA training camps open in the coming weeks. Over the past five seasons, he has been the league leader in three-pointers made.
Acquired in a trade with the Sacramento Kings in the 2021-22 season, Hield quickly became a valuable veteran leader alongside Tyrese Haliburton, averaging 16.8 points and five rebounds with a 42.5 percent three-point shooting rate last season.
